Diagonal Bend & Chest Opening

Sweep low toward one foot, then bloom open wide.

Bend diagonally down toward one foot with both arms, then rise and open your chest wide — alternating sides.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet wide, arms overhead.
  2. Sweep both arms diagonally down toward your left foot, bending at the hips.
  3. Rise back up and open the arms wide as your chest lifts.
  4. Repeat toward the right foot, alternating with the counts.

Breathing: Exhale sweeping down, inhale opening up.

Questions

This one feels complicated — how do I learn it?

Learn it in halves: practice the diagonal sweep alone, then the rise-and-open alone, then join them. The music's phrase gives you a full count of eight per side.

How low should I sweep?

Toward the knee or shin is plenty. The diagonal path matters more than the depth.
