Movement 8 / 13 · 16 counts · 腕を上下に伸ばす運動

Up & Down Stretch

Sharp reaches skyward — the routine's exclamation marks.

Punch both arms straight up, then draw them down to your shoulders, in a crisp up-down rhythm.

How to do it

  1. Bring both hands lightly to the front of your shoulders.
  2. Extend both arms straight overhead with energy, palms facing in.
  3. Snap back to the shoulders, elbows down.
  4. Keep the rhythm crisp and vertical with the counts.

Breathing: Exhale on each reach up, inhale on the return.

Questions

Why is this movement shorter than the others?

It's an intensity accent. The routine alternates lively and calm movements, and this sharp burst leads into the bigger bending movements that follow.

Should I make fists?

Traditionally hands stay open and relaxed. The energy goes into the reach, not the grip.

Radio Taiso is gentle, but it is still exercise. If you have a medical condition, an injury, or any doubt, check with a health professional before starting.
