Deep Breathing
The quiet ending: arms rise with the breath, and the day begins.
Raise your arms slowly as you breathe in deeply; lower them as you breathe all the way out.
How to do it
- Stand tall and still, feet grounded.
- Float both arms out and up as you take a slow, deep breath in.
- Pause for a heartbeat at the top.
- Lower the arms slowly as you exhale completely. Repeat with the slowing music.
Breathing: This movement is the breath — long, deep, and unhurried, as the tempo eases.
What it does
- Activates the parasympathetic nervous system, settling the body into calm alertness.
- Ends the routine with a moment of stillness — the pause the rest of the day rarely offers.
Common mistakes
- Breathing into the shoulders — let the belly and ribs expand instead.
- Rushing the exhale: emptying the lungs fully is where the calm comes from.
Questions
Why does the music slow down here?
The final movement drops the tempo so your breath can lengthen naturally. Follow the music and the pacing takes care of itself.
What do I do when it ends?
